Squash Pink Banana (Cucubita pepo)

Description:

SOWING
Sow under cover in late March. Soak the seed overnight, then sow 2.5cm deep vertically, one to a 9cm pot. The seeds are large and may rot off before they germinaate it sown flat. Once they have 5 or 6 leaves, they are ready to go out. Harden them off by standing them outside during the day and plant them out once the frosts are over. You can also sow them direct into the ground outside if you wait until after the frosts.
FINAL THINNING DISTANCE
After last frosts, when they have 5-6 leaves plant out 90cm apart. Can be grown up a framework.
HARVESTING
Mature about 4 months from sowing. Harvest when the skin is hard-leaving out in the sun for 10 days to ripen further.
