A climbing plant grown as an annual or a short lived perennial and can reach up to 2 metres in height. Flowers are borne in pretty spikes and vary in colour from white to rich purple. Pods are flat blunt and slightly curved, about 10cm long. Use both fresh or dried and the immature pods, young green seeds and leaves are edible.
