This new variety requires no soil cover when lifted for production of chicons. Sow end April to early May and lift end Sept to Nov. Harvest mid-November to end-January.
FORCING TYPE
Keep chicons in complete darkness, otherwise the chicons will be green and bitter. Ensure a warm environment about 18°C. Do not letthe temperature fall below 10°C. In four weeks the chicons should be fully formed and about 17cm tall.. Chicons are harvested by breaking off with care; breaking off rather than cutting encourages a second (but smaller) crop to grow.

Sow thinly direct into the growing site 1cm deep in rows 30cm apart.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
As soon as seedlings form third leaf thin out to 22cm apart. Roots can be lifted from late September. |
